SoarnEagle's 6 in 1 Nested Kit
I have made and remade my personal E-Kit over the past 15 years in order to find what worked "perfectly" for me. I have finally come up with something that I am not only very satisfied with, but it also is very organized. This makes it simple to find items quickly and easily. In addition, because this kit is made up of separate components, I can take what I need without carrying the entire kit all the time.
The main component of this kit... and what everything else centers around is my "Maxi Kit". It is one piece that I never go anywhere without! The Maxi kit is approximately the size of a woman's purse and only weighs about 3 pounds. It contains everything that I need to survive in comfort until help arrives. With it I can make a shelter, start a fire, gather water, and make camp tools. It also has a small First Aid Kit (FAK), Survival cards giving ideas of how to do things, and many other goodies to make life more pleasant in a Bushcraft Situation.
The rest of the complete kit includes a comprehensive First Aid Kit, a Shelter Kit, a Cook Kit, a Personal Kit, and a Complete Fire Kit (including 6 different ways to make a fire in any situation and a way to make more charcloth if I were to need it). The whole kit is definitely not a mini, maxi, or day kit. It is capable of sustaining one almost indefinitely in a Bug Out situation. It is designed for redundancy, so you will see things 2 or 3 times in different kits. The purpose for this is that each of 4 kits (not the 1st Aid or Food) can operate independently if necessary from the rest of the pack. Please note that some of the items in the Maxi Kit are found in other kits. I have made note as to which items are found in the Maxi Kit so as not to cause confusion, but I have included them in the proper "Nested Kit" for a complete overview of what I carry.
Best of all the kit is compact. It all packs in a day kit (without clothing) and weighs in at only 15 lbs for the main kit, and about 7.5 lbs for the Shelter Kit. I will separate each component for you with pictures and a brief breakdown of what is included in each kit. At the end I will show you all of the nested kits and how they fit into the whole pack. So let's take a look at SoranEagle's Nested Kit!
